We had a great combined children and junior youth group gathering at Desert Winds Apartments on June 24 th. They studied a quote about hope. We read a story called One Seed about believing in oneself and persevering in spite of other's criticism. The seed's refrain was. "I can do it. Just watch me. " The junior youth and older children acted out some of the parts.
While the younger children colored, the older chilren and junior youth read about setting goals and hope. They wrote down their hopes for the future and shared them with each other.

Ashlin Quintana, Alice Thaggard and I returned to Desert Winds apartment to begin studying the youth conference material with youth in the neighborhood. We met in the apartment of one of the youth. Ashlin led the discussion with the four neighborhood youth. They were very enthusiastic and animated during the discussion of the material. They want to become children class teachers or animators in their neighborhood.

And the best part was meeting two new people (who are now on our list of regular invitees,) both of whom learned about it from our newspaper announcement, and enjoyed the evening!

July 26th on Wednesday evenings Robert Thaggard, Lynn & Larry Paul, Holly Hendry, Harold Clemons (married couple, friends of the faith) & I meet to do a Ruhi Book 1. Last 2 sessions memorization cards were introduced to help with memorizing quotes. I gave them their own memorization booklet and when they memorize a quote by the end of the class they received a card with their quote printed on it that goes in their personal booklet. By the completion of Book 1 their booklet will be filled with all the memorizations they have accomplished from book one. They have been so excited with the memorization each week, Holly told me Harold has his booklet propped up in the bathroom to work on his memorization every day! He is so excited!

Including one donation in previous week at local OneBoold facility, you have donated 28 units. We are well under way to reach our goal of 200. For those who could not donate due to low blood iron please make sure to start taking your Iron pills a week before the next blood drive on October 15th.

A Race Unity Teaching Team has been formed to address this most challenging issue in the United States in response to the letter of February 25, 2017 from our National Spiritual Assembly. We have met 3 times to discuss how we will move forward. Members of various communities have joined, so it is a Cluster-wide initiative. Please let Nora K., Johanna R. or myself know if you would like to join this team!
